McCrary Departs Green Bay After Injury Settlement
The Green Bay Packers have released running back Nate McCrary with an injury settlement, the team announced on Tuesday.
McCrary, 26, joined the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He appeared in four games for Green Bay, carrying the ball 11 times for 42 yards.
The Packers also announced that they have elevated running back Ellis Merriweather from the practice squad to the active roster.
Merriweather Gets Opportunity in Green Bay Backfield
Merriweather, 24, was signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He has yet to appear in a regular season game.
The Packers' running back depth chart is now led by Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Kylin Hill is also on the roster, but he is currently on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Packers Open Season Against Vikings
The Packers will open the 2023 season on Sunday, September 11, against the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Vikings are led by quarterback Kirk Cousins and running back Dalvin Cook. The Packers' defense will be tasked with stopping Cook, who rushed for 1,159 yards and six touchdowns in 2022.
