2024 Boston Marathon: Start Time and Wave Information
Overview
The 128th Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, April 15, 2024. The race will start in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and finish in Boston, Massachusetts.
Start Time
The 2024 Boston Marathon start time will be 9:00 AM Eastern Time for all participants.
Wave Information
The nearly 30,000-person field will begin the race in staggered waves. The starting order is as follows:
Wave 1
9:00 AM: Elite runners, charity runners, and qualified runners with official times under 3 hours 10 minutes for men and 3 hours 35 minutes for women.
Wave 2
9:15 AM: Qualified runners with official times under 3 hours 20 minutes for men and 3 hours 45 minutes for women.
Wave 3
9:30 AM: Qualified runners with official times under 3 hours 30 minutes for men and 3 hours 55 minutes for women.
Wave 4
9:45 AM: All other runners.
